Le Mans Ultimate: Patch 1.2.1.0 - Update 2, Patch 1 (December 16th, 2025)
Introduction
Studio 397 has released a significant update for Le Mans Ultimate, the official FIA World Endurance Championship endurance racing simulation. Patch 1.2.1.0 represents the second major update of version 1.2, primarily focusing on resolving critical issues and improving the multiplayer experience. This update addresses numerous community-reported bugs, introduces improvements to online penalty management, and optimizes artificial intelligence performance in wet conditions.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Improvements
One of the main focuses of this patch concerns AI behavior in wet track conditions. Developers have corrected a significant issue regarding artificial intelligence performance on wet rubbered lines compared to human drivers. Previously, AI showed irregular performance when the track presented a rubbered racing line but was wet, a typical situation during the initial phases of rain during a race. This fix now ensures fairer and more realistic competition between human drivers and AI in variable weather conditions.
Cooperative Mode (Co-op)
The cooperative mode received an important correction that resolved anomalous behavior during driver swaps. The corrected bug prevented the artificial intelligence, after receiving control of the car through a driver swap, from incorrectly switching to wet tires when weather conditions were dry. This issue caused significant strategic penalties to teams using automatic driver swaps, compromising competitiveness in endurance races.
Driver Badges and Interface
A new feature introduced in this update concerns driver badges, now visible in results screens with informative tooltips. This addition allows players to quickly identify the characteristics and skill levels of other participants, improving transparency and the game's sense of progression.
Regarding the general user interface, several improvements have been implemented:
- Event notification animations: A new animation in the top bar alerts players when an event is about to start, improving time management and reducing the risk of missing session starts
- Long name display: Fixed an issue where event names that were too long caused race results to be clipped off screen
- Name abbreviations: Corrected the display of name abbreviations in the driver selection panel
- Position highlighting: Implemented player position highlight in championship standings for more immediate readability
Driver Swap and Engineer
Developers have corrected a critical bug that prevented players from canceling or rejecting an engineer invite during driver swap procedures. This issue caused blocking situations during endurance races, particularly frustrating during strategically crucial moments of competitions.
Engine and Technology
On the technical front, two critical crashes have been resolved:
- Server information parsing crash: Eliminated an error that caused the game to crash while parsing online server information
- Direct launch crash: Resolved an issue that caused crashes when the game was launched directly without going through the launcher
Additionally, the PluginAdapter.exe file is now digitally signed to prevent false positives from antivirus software, improving the installation and update experience.
Head-Up Display (HUD)
The pit menu has been updated with smarter logic for automatic repair. The system now only enables automatic repair when the player receives damage indicated in red in the HUD, optimizing pit times and avoiding unnecessary repairs that could compromise race strategy.
Online System and Penalties
One of the most significant corrections concerns the online penalty system. Previously, time penalties that were not served during a pit stop were applied excessively at the end of the race session. This bug caused disproportionate penalties that could completely overturn final results. The fix now ensures correct and proportional application of penalties, maintaining the competitive integrity of online races.
RaceControl and Event Management
The RaceControl system received several improvements:
- Team event practice servers: Practice servers for team events have been configured to have the same duration as the race session, allowing for more accurate preparation
- Rank card spacing: Fixed a missing spacing issue between rank cards on the profile page
- Team post-race results: Removed an unnecessary scrollbar in team post-race results, improving readability
Race Weekend
Two important issues have been resolved in the Race Weekend format:
- Return to results: Fixed an occasional bug where pressing ESC did not return the player to the results screen at the end of a race
- Formation lap: Resolved a critical issue where skipping the formation lap made the race start instantly without the correct countdown, causing chaotic starts
Telemetry and Track Limits
The telemetry system received an important correction for event timestamps, which were previously corrupted and made post-race analysis difficult.
Regarding track limits, various issues related to going off track near pit entries have been resolved. This problem was particularly evident at Paul Ricard, where players received unjustified penalties for corner cuts that actually provided no advantage.
Track Updates: Paul Ricard
The Paul Ricard circuit received a massive quality and accuracy update:
Geometric modifications:
- Comprehensive curb review correcting various inaccuracies (thanks to Jardier's contribution)
- Minor terrain adjustments near bridges at the final turn
- Added terrain islands under some trees planted in the middle of concrete areas
Scenic additions:
- Goodyear fan zone arch
- Missing trees in front of the outer wall near turns 5/6
- Various small buildings to increase realism
Visual corrections:
- Desaturated magenta color on rumble strips
- Fixed tires intersecting with armco outside turn 11
- Updated terrain ambient occlusion with the latest added trees
Car Updates
Ford Mustang LMGT3 Received a small Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustment to improve competitiveness in the LMGT3 class.
Ginetta G61-LT-P325-Evo LMP3 Updated the default setup for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, optimizing handling and performance on this specific track.
Lamborghini Huracan EVO2 LMGT3 Implemented a small BOP adjustment to balance performance against other GT3 cars.
Lexus RCF LMGT3 Fixed a critical bug where track-specific default setups were not loading correctly. Previously, the Paul Ricard setup was erroneously loaded for all tracks. Now each circuit uses its own optimized setup.
Porsche 911 LMGT3 R Applied a small BOP adjustment to maintain competitive balance in the LMGT3 category.
Known Issues and Common Fixes
Developers continue to monitor community feedback and have published an updated guide of known issues and related solutions. Conclusions
Patch 1.2.1.0 represents a significant step forward for Le Mans Ultimate, demonstrating Studio 397's continued commitment to perfecting the simulation experience. The updates focus on fundamental aspects such as online competitive fairness, AI behavior, and circuit accuracy. The improved penalty system and crash corrections represent essential priorities for maintaining the integrity of endurance competitions. With these fixes and continuous BOP adjustments, the game is getting ever closer to its goal of offering the most authentic and balanced endurance racing simulation available on the market.
