Assetto Corsa Rally Update 0.3: The Legendary Monte-Carlo Rally Comes to Simulation
Assetto Corsa Rally Update 0.3: The Legendary Monte-Carlo Rally Comes to Simulation
Expected Release Date: End of February 2025
Hello Rally Fans! Get ready for an unprecedented experience! The next update of Assetto Corsa Rally brings to simulation one of the world's most iconic rallies: the Monte-Carlo Rally, recreated with absolute precision thanks to laser scanning technology.
Assetto Corsa Rally becomes the first rally title to offer a fully laser-scanned reproduction of Monte-Carlo, bringing to the sim world an uncompromising level of accuracy.
Two Legendary Stages
This iconic location is being delivered as two separate stages, each built to an exceptionally high level of detail, capturing the character, road geometry, and technical challenge that make this area legendary in rallying.
Col de Turini – 18 km
The Col de Turini is a legendary mountain stage defined by relentless elevation change, extreme technicality, and minimal margin for error.
Main Features:
- Length: 18 km of pure intensity
- Elevation: Aggressive climb through dense forest before breaking out onto exposed alpine sections
- Technicality: Near-continuous sequence of tight hairpins, short straights, and off-camber corners that demand precise car placement and disciplined throttle control
- Variable Grip: Grip levels highly variable due to altitude, shading, and surface changes
- Challenge: The narrow road offers few recovery options, heavily punishing over-commitment. Driver concentration must remain absolute from start to finish.
Sisteron – 13 km
The Sisteron stage is a fast and flowing 13 km test that contrasts sharply with tighter alpine stages.
Main Features:
- Length: 13 km of sustained speed
- Style: Wide, well-surfaced roads with long, open corners, rapid direction changes, and several high-speed sections where commitment is essential
- Average Speed: High throughout the stage
- Elevation Changes: Less extreme but frequent enough to unsettle the car, particularly over crests that lead directly into fast corners
- Critical: Braking zones are critical, as many entries arrive at high speed with limited visual reference
Two New Cars: Historic and Modern
To help you tackle the Monte-Carlo stages, Update 0.3 introduces two new cars:
Lancia Fulvia Coupe HF – 1970 (Front-Wheel Drive)
An Italian rallying legend:
- Engine: 1.6-litre narrow-angle V4
- Power: 115-130+ hp
- Achievements: Winner of the 1972 International Rally Championship and the Monte-Carlo Rally
- Features: An icon of front-wheel drive that made rally history
SKODA Fabia RS Rally2 – 2022 (All-Wheel Drive)
Modern Rally2 category technology:
- Engine: 1.6-litre turbo
- Power: 289 HP
- Specifications: FIA Rally2-spec car
- Winning Debut: Lausitz Rally, November 2022
- Features: Represents the modern evolution of the Rally2 category
Revolutionary Dynamic Weather with Dynamic Snow
One of the most significant innovations of Update 0.3 is the introduction of a dynamic weather system with dynamic snow, a feature that, as far as we are aware, makes Assetto Corsa Rally the first rally game to implement fully dynamic snowy conditions.
How It Works
As is the case with Monte-Carlo in the real world, the stages have a variety of weather conditions where it can mix from snow to tarmac and back to snow again. This has been worked into our dynamic weather system, creating realistic and unpredictable scenarios.
Typical Scenario:
- Stage start: sunny and dry
- Mountain climb: snow coverage
- Descent: return to sunshine
This makes critical the analysis of weather forecasts and choosing suitable tyres before starting the stage.
Difference from Traditional Games
In traditional rally games you have static conditions: snowy OR dry OR wet, with snow always modelled in the same location. In Assetto Corsa Rally, snow can fall anywhere in the stage when the conditions are correct.
Dynamic System Rules
With weather set to "Dynamic weather" and other variables set to random/realistic:
- Snow starts falling when:
- It's raining AND
- Temperature is below zero degrees centigrade
- Temperature depends on:
- Location in the world: ambient temp will be higher in Southern locations
- Time of day: gets colder after sunset
- Altitude: temp decreases with altitude
Features in Update 0.3
- Snow will only feature on the two Monte Carlo stages
- As in Livigno, your car will leave tyre tracks in the snow, but yours will be the only ones. There will be no previous tyre tracks from competitors
- Tarmac grip dependent on temperature: The colder it is, the less the grip
- Studded tyres available for more grip on snow, can be mixed and matched with tarmac tyres
Winter and Snow Tyres
Taking on the icy mountain roads of Monte-Carlo demands a very specific kind of grip. To meet that challenge, we're introducing two brand-new tyre compounds designed for the harshest winter conditions.
Flexible Choice System
As in real world rallying, in Assetto Corsa Rally you can now mix and match tyre compounds:
- Combination of Snow and Winter tyres
- Full winter setup
- Maximum flexibility to prepare for whatever the stage throws your way
As the weather shifts and the stage evolves, choosing the right rubber becomes just as important as your driving line.
Message from the Developers
"Dear Assetto Corsa Rally community members,
We apologize for going slightly over time with this new update. Our intention was to release it within January, but we preferred to take a few extra weeks to deliver these two new stages 'Col de Turini' and 'Sisteron' as polished as possible.
The Monte Carlo is a very challenging rally from a technological and production standpoint, but we hope you'll enjoy these authentic 31km of laser-scanned terrain, faithfully reproduced without compromises, just as AC Rally aims to be.
We've also invested a lot of time in introducing new cars, new special events, new driving conditions, such as the dynamic snow/ice driving, and improving the tyre model and FFB.
Two months between updates have proven to be the right amount of time to best handle all the new features we've introduced, and in the future we'll try to stick to this interval.
We hope you'll welcome this update with enthusiasm, and while we may seem quiet, we want to assure you that we follow all your feedback with great interest and careful consideration.
Thank you for your support and patience.
- Supernova Games Studio"
