iRacing 2025 Season 4 Patch 3: Major Update with High-Altitude Physics Improvements and Balance of Performance Changes
October 16, 2025 - iRacing has released the third patch of the 2025 Season 4, introducing significant updates to the simulator's physics model, AI corrections, and important Balance of Performance (BoP) changes for various car classes.
High-Altitude Physics Revolution
One of the most significant innovations in this patch concerns the altitude tracking system. Track splines are now aware of their relative altitude and can integrate this parameter into predictive and estimated calculations related to different car types. This improvement will impact not only high-altitude tracks like Mexico but also circuits with significant altitude variations like Mount Washington.
In parallel, vehicle turbo and boost parameters have been optimized to better correspond with the latest updates for realistic engine operation at various altitudes. These changes affect the following classes:
- GT3
- GT4
- GTE
- Touring Cars (TCR)
Balance of Performance Updates
Two flagship GT3 cars received mid-season BoP modifications:
Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO: aerodynamic drag has been slightly increased to balance the British car's performance against the competition.
Porsche 911 GT3 R (992): conversely, high-speed drag has been slightly reduced, giving the 911 an advantage on faster straights.
Technological Innovations for Hypercars
The Ferrari 499P receives a fundamental technological update with the implementation of the hybrid system's cornering mode. This system allows drivers to adjust the amount of front hybrid drive in high-speed corners, offering the ability to fine-tune the car's balance under specific conditions.
For all GTP cars using the new hybrid system, wheel adjustments have been made to improve water clearing for rear tires and optimize the balance of performance in wet conditions.
Artificial Intelligence Improvements
AI drivers have refined their racing skills with GT4 and GTP class cars, in conjunction with hybrid system updates. Additionally, they've improved their racing line through the Le Mans chicane at Daytona International Speedway.
A problem preventing AI drivers from properly navigating the rolling start from pit exit at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Roval) configurations has been resolved.
Race Control and Fixes
An important fix concerns the Race Control system, where a problem that assigned black flags for course cuts not actually committed has been resolved - a correction that will prevent many unfair penalties.
Track Updates
Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez (Mexico): fixed an issue with cautions not operating correctly on the oval configuration. Distant 3D buildings have been optimized to appear only during replay mode, improving graphics performance.
North Wilkesboro Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway: fixed a bizarre bug that made the pit speed limit indication disappear after entering the pits. As humorously noted in the release notes: "You are allowed to know the pit speed limit while in the pits."
Daytona International Speedway: some trackside objects have been optimized to slightly improve graphics performance.
User Interface and Stability
Numerous fixes have improved stability and usability of the interface:
- Fixed a crash related to sorting in the Results tab
- Corrected issues with chat macros
- Fixed a rendering issue on screens with over 8K resolution with HDR active
- Fixed a bug that allowed multiple laps to be flagged as fastest lap (now there can be only one, as it should be)
- Improved S Meter rendering performance
- Key bindings now briefly flash when pressed in the Options screen
Special Demo Drive Notes
During the maintenance period, there will be intermittent connectivity to the Demo Drive launch/setup service for approximately the first 30 minutes of downtime. To compensate, Demo Drive will remain up for 24 hours once maintenance is complete.
Audio Updates
The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO received a significant audio improvement with updated sounds for engine, backfire, gear, transmission, and ignition, plus improved overall audio dynamics.
This patch demonstrates iRacing's continued commitment to perfecting the simulation experience, with particular attention to physical realism and competitive balance. The altitude updates represent a significant step forward in simulation accuracy, while the BoP changes keep competitions balanced and exciting.
