Assetto Corsa EVO — Update 0.9 Available: New Cars, Online Leaderboards and Physics Model Update
Assetto Corsa EVO's Update 0.9 is now live, bringing three new cars, online leaderboards with special Hotlap and Hotstint events, a significant update to the tyre model, and extensive improvements across physics, rendering, inputs, and overall stability. The KUNOS Simulazioni team has been upfront with the community: Update 0.9 will not mark the final release of the Early Access programme. Free Roam is still very much on the way and will be part of Assetto Corsa EVO before the programme concludes. A heartfelt thank-you has been extended to all players for the patience, feedback, and passion shown throughout this development journey.
New Cars
Audi R8 LMS GT2 — The racing version of the R8 built for the GT2 class, representing an extreme expression of high-level customer racing.
Audi R8 V10 performance quattro — The road-going flagship variant of the R8, with its celebrated naturally aspirated V10 and quattro all-wheel drive, brings a modern supercar icon to the roster.
Mazda RX7 FD Spirit R (Type A) — The final and most refined expression of the legendary rotary-engined RX-7, in Spirit R Type A configuration: a car with a unique character and a deep motorsport history.
Online Leaderboards and Special Events
Update 0.9 introduces online leaderboards with Hotlap and Hotstint events, accompanied by new Special Events. In Hotlaps, players can select other drivers from the leaderboard via the MFD and race against their delta — their own reference in the delta widget is replaced by the selected driver's. In Hotstints the same logic applies, but instead of replacing the delta, total gaps to nearby drivers on the leaderboard are displayed at each sector line crossing, providing more real-time feedback on how the stint is going.
Both event types introduce a new optional feature: Limited Attempts. Players can practise as much as they wish, but only a set number of attempts will be tracked by the leaderboard, increasing the pressure and recreating a more race-like situation.
Physics and Tyre Model
The tyre model for racing slicks has been updated and deployed on GT racing cars. LSD differential simulation has been improved, with friction faces now added to the car setup menu. Issues with AWD clutches and AWD not respecting various lock controllers have been corrected. The SF25 wet setup now correctly defaults to wet tyres rather than intermediates. The GT3 RS launch control RPM has been fixed. The throttle model has been improved on newly released cars, with expansion to all content planned going forward.
Input, FFB and Controls
Optimisations to the input system and new default input definitions. Automatic Force Feedback recovery on disconnect or alt-tab has been introduced for DirectInput, Fanatec, Logitech, and Thrustmaster devices — FFB returns on its own within approximately one second after alt-tab, USB unplug/replug, or base power-cycle. An FFB output linearisation LUT has been added, loadable via the ffb.lut file in the SavedGame folder. Various FFB shaping issues have been fixed, along with a reconnection recognition issue for Fanatec devices and a bug preventing the automatic shifter from functioning when H-shifter inputs were set.
Gameplay and Multiplayer
Mandatory pit stop requirements have been implemented, currently as a Multiplayer feature — the launcher has been updated and the pit window is selectable in timed races over 20 minutes in length. Fixed an issue where suspension repair also repaired car body damage. Fixed raindrops remaining on the windshield after exiting a rainy session. A damage rate setting has been added to assist settings in Single Player. Various minor bugs corrected, including the dash display on the HUD disappearing in certain scenarios and an issue with custom external liveries not applying correctly to saved user cars. General CPU-side optimisations. In Multiplayer: fixed a crash on server disconnection, admin commands being sent twice, and a duplicated race number issue when rejoining a server with a custom number.
Renderer and Graphics
Wind now has a graphical representation. Exposure fusion has been introduced — a new feature that mimics how the human eye perceives light compared to a camera. The View Settings page has been updated to allow real-time modification of exposure bias, exposure fusion, and post-processing presets directly on track, with a live preview. Temporal dithering has been added for improved compatibility with DLSS and FSR. Optimisations to shadow receiver culling, car and cockpit cubemaps, mirrors, and windshield materials. Fixed TV camera jitter during replays and broadcast footage. Fixed the shadow factor going missing on windshield effects.
