Assetto Corsa EVO — Full breakdown of update 0.7
On 3 June 2026, KUNOS Simulazioni and 505 Games released version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO on Steam Early Access. This is one of the most strategically significant updates of the Early Access programme so far, with a scope that goes well beyond simply adding content: the official debut of modding tools, a brand-new particle system, four new cars, and a multiplayer safety rating system that redefines the concept of clean racing. Four new cars: modern GT and icons from the past
Release 0.7 expands the car roster with four additions that cover both the cutting edge of contemporary GT customer racing and one of the most culturally significant sports cars ever produced. Assetto Corsa
The Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II is the latest evolution of one of GT3's most consistent and widely respected platforms. Mature aero balance, predictable rotation, and mechanical honesty that rewards consistency: a true benchmark for modern GT3 driving.
The Datsun 240Z arrives in two variants, bringing a fundamental piece of Japanese automotive history into EVO. With its classic long-hood proportions, inline-six character, and a level of mechanical purity rare for its era, the standard variant delivers an authentic analogue driving experience, while the second interpretation is tuned for cornering exploration with an even more direct feel.
The Porsche 935 is a modern tribute built on the GT2 RS Clubsport platform, clothed in the unmistakable long-tail bodywork of the original. Dramatic aerodynamics, rear-engined attitude, and a unique visual presence: a car that is as much about character as it is about outright performance.
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport Evo Kit closes the group as the definitive track-only evolution of the 991 GT2 RS. Turbocharged punch, serious downforce, and all the rear-engined commitment that demands precision under braking and trust on power. One of the most uncompromising Porsches ever produced — and one of the most rewarding cars in EVO to master.
The AC EVO SDK debut: modding officially enters the picture
The headline feature of update 0.7 is the debut of the AC EVO SDK application. This is a historic moment for the title: user-generated content has always been in the DNA of Assetto Corsa, and with this release, that legacy formally enters EVO. Sports Gamers Online
Unlike the original Assetto Corsa editor, the AC EVO SDK is a more modern and complete experience. It features a PBR (Physically Based Rendering) material production pipeline, full LOD management, and support for aftermarket components — including visual and mechanical variants — that can be applied to user-generated cars as upgrades. Assetto Corsa
According to KUNOS, the production pipeline used in the SDK closely aligns with the same technology used internally by the development team. That should give serious creators a meaningful foundation to start building from, even if this first version is only the beginning. Sports Gamers Online
This first release focuses on the car editor only. Custom livery and track tools will follow at a later stage. User-generated cars are currently supported in Single Player; Multiplayer support is targeted, alongside custom liveries, for a further update. Assetto Corsa
This phased approach to modding through Early Access is a change from the original user-generated content plans, when the tools were planned for after Version 1.0. Traxion
The new particle system: smoke, dust, spray, and impacts
Tyre smoke now reacts to wheelspin, slides, and drifting. Dust and dirt kick up when cars leave the racing surface or run across gravel and grass. Wet-weather racing also receives improved spray effects. Sports Gamers Online
Crashes and contact now have dedicated impact effects as well, adding more visual weight when things go wrong on track. The effects are enabled by default, with a fallback video setting available for lighter hardware configurations. Particle filtering for internal drivable cameras keeps the cockpit view clean on cars with closed interiors. Operation Sports
EVO SR: the Safety Rating that rewards close racing
Unlike some racing safety systems that primarily reward players for avoiding contact altogether, EVO SR is designed to reward clean racing in close proximity. The concept is genuinely innovative by industry standards: drivers build their rating by spending time running near other cars without making contact — whether they are fighting for the lead, running in traffic, or sitting in a multi-car train. Sports Gamers Online
The system reads contact through in-game impact data. According to KUNOS, aggressors are penalised while victims are protected. Rating reductions also scale depending on the severity of the incident, meaning a light brush is treated differently than a major collision. Solo wall hits and light slipstream taps sit below the model's threshold and do not affect the rating. Sports Gamers Online
Improvements to physics, audio, rendering, and UI
Physics have been balanced across several vehicles, along with revised power and torque figures and handling tweaks for select models. Rendering improvements address lighting, reflections, cloud shadows, fog behaviour, texture streaming, and VR performance. Simulation Daily
Audio has also received attention, with new sound packages for the Lotus Exige V6 and Toyota Supra, as well as various engine and effects updates. Simulation Daily
Additional quality-of-life improvements include expanded camera controls, enhancements to the customisation menu, new UI features, multiplayer administration tools, and numerous bug fixes. Simulation Daily
Conclusion
Assetto Corsa EVO update 0.7 is arguably the most strategically important release since the Early Access launch. The SDK debut marks the beginning of a journey that could transform EVO into the open, expandable platform KUNOS has always envisioned. The particle system brings visual simulation to a new level. EVO SR aims to build a fairer, more competitive multiplayer environment. And the four new cars — including the legendary Datsun 240Z and the spectacular Porsche 935 — further enrich an already high-quality roster. An update that looks decisively toward the future.
