Assetto Corsa EVO — Full breakdown of update 0.6
Assetto Corsa EVO — Full breakdown of update 0.6
Kunos Simulazioni has today released update 0.6 for Assetto Corsa EVO, marking a significant step in the title's ongoing evolution. The update substantially expands available content while introducing targeted improvements to driving simulation, online competition, and the game's technical foundations. Once again, the development process reflects the close and ongoing dialogue between the studio and its community.
Six new cars: from the race track to the open road
The most anticipated addition in update 0.6 is undoubtedly the arrival of six new vehicles, spanning modern GT racing machinery and timeless road car icons. Each car brings its own distinct driving philosophy, enriching the roster with proposals that are as varied as they are complementary.
The Audi R8 LMS GT4 Evo is a balanced and accessible GT4 racer, built for consistency and mechanical clarity. It offers a disciplined entry point into organised racing for drivers looking for a trustworthy and readable platform.
The Ferrari 296 GT3 sets the benchmark for contemporary GT motorsport: sharp responsiveness, excellent traction, and advanced aerodynamics make it one of the most complete and modern cars in the simulator's lineup.
The Ferrari GTO brings the enduring appeal of a legendary road car icon. With its turbocharged character and a more analogue, respect-demanding driving experience, it asks for full attention at all times, rewarding those who truly engage with it.
The Ford Mustang GT3 is the American answer to European GT machinery: stability, confidence, and a strongly distinctive mechanical and visual identity. Designed for the long distances of endurance racing, it communicates solidity in every metre driven.
The Lamborghini Countach represents the ultimate automotive fantasy. Few cars in history have captured the collective imagination as powerfully as this supercar. In AC EVO it arrives with all of its raw character and mechanical demands, delivering a one-of-a-kind driving experience that cannot be replicated.
The Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport closes the group with its extreme, aero-focused interpretation of Porsche's GT racing philosophy. It does not forgive mistakes, requiring total commitment and precision — but it rewards those capable of mastering it.
Sebring International Raceway: America joins EVO
Alongside the six new cars, update 0.6 introduces one of the most iconic and demanding circuits in American motorsport: Sebring International Raceway. Famous for its bumpy surface, long braking zones, and technical flow, Sebring has for decades been one of the sport's most rigorous tests for both car setup and driver discipline. Its addition to Assetto Corsa EVO is no coincidence — the circuit pairs perfectly with the new GT cars introduced in this update, providing an authentic and challenging context in which to push every vehicle to its limits.
Suspension modelling: a step forward in simulation fidelity
One of the most significant technical improvements in update 0.6 concerns the suspension model. Kunos has done deep work on multilink and strut systems, coilover direction, roll and pitch centre calculations, bumpstop behaviour, and damper response. The result is more precise load transfer communication, greater mechanical realism, and a more authentic overall vehicle response across the entire roster. Drivers who rely on reading the car through the steering wheel will immediately notice the benefits of this work.
Multiplayer: more stable and readable collisions
Online racing receives targeted attention through an update to the netcode and contact prediction logic. The stated goal is to make collisions during online sessions more stable and comprehensible, enabling closer wheel-to-wheel racing and reducing erratic behaviour that can compromise race quality. An important step forward for those who place multiplayer at the heart of their AC EVO experience.
Audio: spatiality, car identity, and multichannel management
The audio system receives meaningful improvements with version 0.6. Reverb behaviour has been optimised, particularly in underpasses and enclosed areas, for a more spatially grounded soundscape that better reflects the physical environment. Selected cars also benefit from remade or refined sound sets, advanced multichannel management, and more distinctive and recognisable audio identities.
Official MoTeC telemetry support
A particularly exciting addition for more technical drivers and content creators: update 0.6 introduces official MoTeC telemetry support through an updated shared memory library. The structure and quality of telemetry data for external tools and hardware integrations have been improved, reinforcing AC EVO's simulation and data-analysis capabilities for advanced users. This feature opens up new possibilities for anyone looking to bring their approach to driving to a professional level.
Usability and performance: a more accessible game
The car selection flow has been redesigned to provide a more intuitive starting point for players. The controls settings page has also been reworked, now organised by input type, making configuration significantly clearer and more immediate. On the performance side, CPU optimisation work continues, accompanied by widespread improvements touching AI behaviour, pit stops, penalties, weather systems, track limits, tyres, aerodynamics, setups, rendering, replay, and customisation. The breadth of this work demonstrates just how continuous and thorough the development of AC EVO truly is.
Self-hostable dedicated servers: multiplayer becomes even more open
Following the stabilisation of its core multiplayer infrastructure, Assetto Corsa EVO takes another step towards a complete and layered online community. The Daily Racing Portal continues to deliver 24/7 ranked challenges, engaging several thousand players each month. The acevo-servers.com platform enables browser-based server rental with worldwide availability. Now, with update 0.6, a third option arrives: a dedicated game server executable available directly through Steam Tools. Users can at last create and host their own servers using essential configuration features, completing a multiplayer ecosystem designed to accommodate every type of player — from the highly competitive to the casual, from organised communities to friends who simply want to race together.
Conclusion
Assetto Corsa EVO update 0.6 is an ambitious and substantial release, showcasing the growing maturity of a project still in early access yet already capable of delivering a high-level simulation experience. Six new cars with strong individual identities, an iconic circuit in Sebring, a deeper suspension model, more reliable multiplayer, and professional-grade tools such as MoTeC support make this version a defining moment in Kunos's simulator's evolutionary journey. The road to the final release is becoming ever more clearly defined.
