2026 Season 1 Patch 1: Key Updates and Fixes for iRacing
2026 Season 1 Patch 1: Key Updates and Fixes for iRacing
Released on December 14, 2025, the 2026 Season 1 Patch 1 is a major update for iRacing, addressing critical bugs, enhancing game mechanics, and introducing new features to elevate realism and user experience. The patch focuses on AI performance, UI optimizations, graphic stability, and vehicle/track adjustments, ensuring a refined simulation environment. Developers have prioritized community feedback and internal testing to deliver a balanced update for both casual and competitive sim racers.
AI Racing Enhancements
A standout feature is the improvement in AI driving behavior, particularly for NASCAR Truck Series and Mercedes-AMG W13 E Performance vehicles. These optimizations ensure more realistic decision-making during races and reduce erratic behavior. The Dirt Sprint Car class, a community favorite, has been updated to prioritize wing repairs over other damaged components, a request driven by user input.
User Interface and Visual Fixes
VR users benefit from a critical fix that sharpens the UI, eliminating blurriness during headset sessions. Dropdown menus in the Options tab no longer display blank selections, and FOV settings now save correctly. Additional corrections include resolving overlapping license data in widgets and horizontal scrolling issues at higher UI scales. A visual artifact remains during replays, where extra driver names may appear in the Entries table, but this does not affect race outcomes.
Graphics and Atmosphere
Rendering enhancements include extended draw distances for trees across multiple tracks. A crash bug tied to session changes (e.g., switching from practice to race) has been patched. Tracks like Mount Panorama now feature improved textures, corrected bridging, and properly grounded objects such as fences, signs, and utility poles, enriching environmental immersion.
Audio and Controls
A new feature allows muting specific audio categories at minimal volume, excluding engine, tires, and in-car sounds. Volume slider descriptions have been optimized for better searchability, and UI bugs affecting audio unit controls—such as Spotter and Voice Chat—have been resolved. Xbox gamepads now handle thumb triggers separately via Bluetooth, improving input precision.
Vehicle and Track-Specific Updates
- Super Formula SF23, Dallara IR18, Indy Pro 2000 PM-18, SRX: Default setups have been updated for improved handling realism.
- Porsche 911 Cup (992.2): A reworked launch RPM limiter system allows for natural activation during starts or pit stops without accidental engagement. High-pitch audio artifacts in the left channel have been removed.
- FIA Cross Car: Fixed incorrect orientation of car number slants.
Track updates include Adelaide Street Circuit’s new Turn 4 slowdown penalty and a revised Turn 2 leniency zone. Lucas Oil Speedway’s cameras have been adjusted, Rockingham features corrected wall textures, and Mount Panorama’s rain blockage under bridges now functions correctly.
