Assetto Corsa EVO: Update 0.4 Marks a Decisive Turning Point
Assetto Corsa EVO: Update 0.4 Marks a Decisive Turning Point
December 4, 2025 - KUNOS Simulazioni and 505 Games have released the highly anticipated Update 0.4 for Assetto Corsa EVO today, marking what could be the turning point for the Early Access racing simulator. This update represents the most significant release since the start of early access, introducing groundbreaking content, substantial improvements, and a new platform dedicated to competitive multiplayer.
Daily Racing Portal: The New Era of Multiplayer
The most significant addition of update 0.4 is the introduction of acevo.gg, the Daily Racing Portal that lays the foundation for a structured and competitive multiplayer ecosystem. This web platform allows players to:
- Browse and check daily races directly from the portal
- Register for events without launching the game
- Automatically join the correct server when the event begins
- Benefit from automatic divisions managed through GridRating, ensuring balanced lobbies by grouping drivers according to their skill level
This implementation finally answers the community's requests for a ranked multiplayer system, offering a more organized and engaging competitive experience.
Nürburgring Nordschleife: The Return of the Green Hell
The update brings to Assetto Corsa EVO one of the most iconic and beloved circuits in motorsport: the Nürburgring. The track is available in five configurations:
- Grand Prix - The modern Formula 1 circuit
- Sprint - The shortest configuration
- Combined - The fusion between GP and Nordschleife (24H layout)
- Nordschleife - The legendary 20.8 km of the Green Hell
- Touristenfahrten - The configuration for tourist days
The recreation of the Nordschleife is updated and more recent than the version seen in Assetto Corsa Competizione, including all the latest track modifications, such as the raised kerb at the bottom of Fuchsröhre. The laser scanning ensures an extraordinary level of detail, making the circuit feel alive and incredibly realistic. Although the free roam mode on the surrounding roads is not yet available, the arrival of the Nordschleife still represents a historic moment for AC EVO.
Ten New Cars: From Modern Legends to Historic Icons
Update 0.4 introduces a varied and prestigious selection of ten vehicles, available in multiple variants:
Racing Class
- Ferrari SF-25 - The 2025 Formula 1 car driven by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, complete with functional hybrid system and DRS. It's the first and only 2025 F1 season car available in an official simulator, presented in perfect timing for the championship-deciding Abu Dhabi GP.
GT Class
- Ferrari F40 LM - Developed in the early '90s for competitions like IMSA, this 720 HP turbo beast perhaps represents the true hidden highlight of the update. Based on the last Ferrari approved by Enzo Ferrari, it's an extreme mechanical and manual experience: turbulent, incredibly fast, and with brakes that seem made of chewing gum. A knife-edge car that tries to kill you every time you press the throttle, especially exiting slow corners when the boost kicks in.
- Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 RS - A mid-engine track weapon, also available in the Weissbach kit version. Perfect for showcasing traction control improvements, where lower levels allow for more playful and fun driving.
Road Class
- Ferrari Daytona SP3 - Already teased in the initial AC EVO trailer, this limited edition hypercar brings elegance and extreme performance.
- BMW M3 (E46) CSL - The legendary lightened and enhanced version of the M3, an icon of the 2000s.
- BMW M8 Competition Coupé (F92) - The modern high-performance grand tourer from the Bavarian manufacturer.
- Mini John Cooper S (Mk VI) - The original classic Mini, also available in a B16 variant with Honda B16 DOHC VTEC engine swap for enthusiasts.
- Peugeot 205 T16 - The legendary French hot hatch, lightweight and powerful.
- Renault 5 GT Turbo - Another icon of classic hot hatches.
- Toyota Supra Turbo RZ (Mk IV) - The ultimate Japanese legend, available both in road version and in a dedicated drift variant with specific suspension, steering, and geometry.
Five Legendary Circuits
In addition to the Nürburgring, update 0.4 introduces four other fundamental circuits:
- Autodromo Nazionale di Monza - The Italian temple of speed, familiar to all motorsport fans
- Oulton Park (International and Foster layouts) - The British circuit already present in ACC
- Road Atlanta - The official debut of this American circuit in the Assetto Corsa series
Physics and Driving Improvements
The update brings significant refinements to the physical model:
Tires
- Improved tire damping and thermal cycling
- Removed pseudo-vintage tires for '90s-2000s models, replaced with a range of modern tires appropriate to their performance
- Vintage tires are now reserved for crossply tires
Vehicle Systems
- Several car systems are now adjustable from the cockpit: turbo, dampers, differentials
- Improved TC and ABS behavior on all cars: eliminated the engine-crippling behavior of earlier traction control iterations
- ABS is not as efficient as before, requiring more modulation
Aerodynamics and Setup
- Updated operating aero and ride height ranges on BMW M4 GT3 Evo, with adjustable bump stops
- Updated ranges on Lamborghini ST EVO II
- Updated BMW M2 CS Racing setup limits according to BMW specifications
- Various adjustments to engines, turbos, drag and downforce to better match real-life top and corner speeds
Ferrari 296 GTB
This car received numerous fixes and adjustments to suspension, drivetrain, downforce, airbrake, and dedicated performance modes with more realistic ERS deployment.
User Interface and Quality of Life
Update 0.4 brings substantial improvements to the user experience:
- Expanded HUD notifications with more complete information
- Cleaner server list for easier navigation
- Refreshed client-side leaderboard
- New track maps visible on HUD and pitlane screens
- Multiplayer chat widget to easily communicate with other drivers
- Expanded MFD with more information available to the driver
Graphics and Audio
- Implemented support for flexing and vibrating vehicle parts, such as wings and safety nets (initial implementation on racing cars)
- Introduced a limited visual damage model that improves crash realism
- Removed high-pitched sounds that plagued some cars like the Audi RS6
- Improved rearview mirrors, although not yet at optimal level
Replay System and Optimizations
- Large update to replay code: will probably break compatibility with old replays, but new files will take up significantly less space
- Improved logic for automatic grid population: now adds up to 2+2 car models from above and below the selected car's PI
Server Maintenance
To implement Daily Ranked Racing, essential upgrades to multiplayer servers were performed starting December 3 at 11:00 GMT / 12:00 CET, completed on December 4, paving the way for a smoother and more competitive online experience.
Conclusions
Update 0.4 represents a crucial moment for Assetto Corsa EVO. With the addition of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, structured competitive multiplayer, ten iconic cars (from the 2025 Ferrari SF-25 F1 to the wild F40 LM), and five legendary circuits, KUNOS Simulazioni demonstrates it's on the right path to realizing the vision of a complete and engaging racing simulator.
The updates to physics, audio, graphics, and user interface testify to the constant commitment to improving the driving experience. Although free roam mode and career mode are not yet available, this update finally offers a concrete reason to continue playing AC EVO beyond simple hotlapping.
For those who already own Assetto Corsa EVO, it's time to download Update 0.4 on Steam and jump into the first event through the Daily Racing Portal. For those who haven't yet, this could be the perfect time to join the community and experience legendary laser-scanned circuits like the Nordschleife and Monza.
