Surprise! A New Assetto Corsa Competizione Update Has Been Released
Surprise! A New Assetto Corsa Competizione Update Has Been Released
An unexpected update brings a new Alpine livery and minor graphical improvements to Kunos Simulazioni's simulator
Kunos Simulazioni has surprise-released a new update for the PC version of Assetto Corsa Competizione, the renowned GT racing simulator. However, it's important to clarify from the outset: this is not a massive update, but rather a targeted intervention introducing specific content.
An Alpine Livery for the Future of Esports
The update arrives fresh from the SimRacing Expo 2025 presentation, an event during which the Italian developer previewed the v0.4 build of Assetto Corsa EVO and the new rally-focused title, Assetto Corsa Rally. Despite attention being focused on the new projects, Kunos hasn't forgotten its flagship GT title.
The main content of the update is a single livery applied to the Alpine A110 GT4. This paint scheme has presumably been added in preparation for the 2025 edition of the Alpine Esports Series, the esports competition that the French car manufacturer has been running since 2021. Although official details of the series have yet to be formally announced, the addition of the livery suggests an announcement is imminent.
Graphical Improvements to Details
Beyond the new livery, the update also includes a minor but appreciated correction for realism purists: the Pirelli logos on the GT cars' tires have been touched up. The size of the lettering has been adjusted to offer a more realistic appearance faithful to reality, a detail that contributes to the overall immersiveness of the simulator.
Renewed Spinning Tire Effect
According to reports from the official ACC Discord moderator 'TG0198', the update has finally reworked the visual effect of spinning wheels. This fix uses a solution already implemented in Assetto Corsa EVO, demonstrating how Kunos is sharing technologies between its projects. However, some users have reported issues when motion blur is enabled in the graphics settings, an aspect that may require further attention.
Community Disappointment and Future Hopes
Many Assetto Corsa Competizione fans may be disappointed by the brevity of this update, especially considering the wait for substantial new content. However, there's reason to keep hope alive: back in June, an ACC spokesperson stated that "we're not done with Competizione yet," suggesting that further content additions could arrive in the future.
This small update demonstrates that, despite attention being directed toward the new Assetto Corsa EVO and Rally projects, Kunos Simulazioni maintains active support for its GT simulator, albeit with limited-scope interventions. The community remains waiting to discover what the future holds for one of the most appreciated GT simulators in the racing scene.
