Ferrari SF-25 and New Content Coming to Assetto Corsa EVO: All Announcements from SimRacing Expo
Ferrari SF-25 and New Content Coming to Assetto Corsa EVO: All Announcements from SimRacing Expo
During the SimRacing Expo currently taking place in Dortmund, Germany, Kunos Simulazioni unveiled major news regarding the future of Assetto Corsa EVO, confirming the arrival of numerous content updates that will further enrich the celebrated racing simulator.
v0.4 Update: A November Full of Novelties
The development team officially announced the release of the v0.4 update for November, which will introduce several new cars alongside three legendary circuits: the fearsome Nurburgring, the iconic Oulton Park, and the prestigious Road Atlanta. During interviews at the event, Marco Massarutto, co-founder of Kunos Simulazioni, also previewed additional cars and tracks that will arrive with subsequent updates.
The Paddock Star: Ferrari SF-25
Among the footage shown to the press during the event, particular attention was drawn to the 2025 Ferrari F1 car, the current SF-25 driven by champions Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The presentation clearly shows that the car model is virtually complete, with the ability to select different liveries, including special designs seen at the Canadian, Miami, and Italian Grand Prix. An addition that will surely delight Formula 1 enthusiasts.
An Ever-Expanding Car Roster
The update will bring other high-profile vehicles. Among these stands out the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, a modern reinterpretation of the legendary original supercar, equipped with a powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of delivering 750 HP. Pure performance enthusiasts will also appreciate the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS, featuring improved aerodynamics and powered by over 500 HP from a naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine.
The lineup will also include the new generation BMW M2 G82, equipped with M Performance components, and the innovative McMurtry Spéirling. Brief appearances in the footage also revealed the Ferrari Purosangue SUV and the SP1 single-seater, captured in action in the free roaming mode of the legendary Nordschleife.
Free Roaming: The Ultimate Driving Experience Coming in 2026
One of the most exciting revelations concerns the free roaming mode of Assetto Corsa EVO, which according to Massarutto should debut in early 2026, still during the early access phase. "We are working to make the first part of free roaming available at the beginning of next year," he confirmed during SimRacing Expo, dispelling rumors that circulated months ago suggesting this mode wouldn't arrive before version 1.0.
The co-founder explained that the delay was due to the need to focus on features and issues encountered with the Early Access release: "Since we had to focus on the features and problems encountered with the Early Access release, we had to concentrate on what had already been released and available to the public, because we want to ensure the best possible quality. So we modified the roadmap to adapt it to the updated schedule."
An Open World with Realistic Physics
Videos shown at the event reveal vehicles racing across an extraordinary variety of roads, from picturesque villages to forest-lined streets. "You can literally go anywhere. You can go on-road, off-road," Massarutto stated, emphasizing how free driving will allow players to experience the authentic pleasure of driving on beautiful roads.
"The beauty of the free roaming mode is that Assetto Corsa is a 100% driving and racing simulation. For the first time ever, you'll be able to enjoy realistic physics on real roads," he added. The roads will be reproduced with absolute fidelity, maintaining the same width, configuration, curves, and buildings as in reality. "We haven't widened them just to provide different gameplay," Massarutto clarified.
To make the experience even more immersive, the roads will be populated with traffic and non-player characters, elements that will contribute to "making the place alive." Kunos is also developing a navigation system that will highlight points of interest, potentially transforming Assetto Corsa EVO into a true virtual tourist guide. "If you've never been there, you can use EVO as if it were your Yellow Pages," Massarutto stated.
New Circuits on the Horizon
Carefully analyzing the presented trailers, fans have identified other upcoming circuits, including Watkins Glen and Monza, as well as a future update to the Sebring track. Although no precise timeline has been communicated for the implementation of these new cars and circuits, they will likely be introduced with the 0.5 update of Assetto Corsa EVO, expected between the end of the year and early 2026.
With these announcements, Kunos Simulazioni once again confirms its commitment to making Assetto Corsa EVO the most complete and realistic racing simulator on the market, continuing to listen to the community's needs and constantly expanding available content.
