The Black Angel Team: Sim Racing with a Touch of Style

In the world of sim racing, where competition is fierce, and driving skills are constantly put to the test, some teams stand out for their passion and dedication. Among them is the Black Angel Team, a group of enthusiasts that has built a solid reputation both in Italy and internationally.

What is Sim Racing?

Sim racing, or racing simulation, is much more than a video game. It is a discipline that faithfully replicates the driving experience, requiring skills, strategy, and a deep understanding of driving dynamics. Simulators like Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and rFactor offer immersive simulations with accurately recreated tracks, weather conditions, and vehicles, making sim racing a true virtual sport.

The Birth of the Black Angel Team

Le Mans Ultimate: A Revolution in Virtual Endurance Racing with First Driver Swap Events

Sim racing endurance reaches new levels of realism

Le Mans Ultimate, the official game of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, has reached a historic milestone with the introduction of online driver swaps, a feature that promises to completely revolutionize the virtual driving experience in endurance competitions.

The Wait is Finally Over

After months of intensive development and internal testing, the first official driver swap events have been scheduled for August 1st and 2nd, 2025, marking the public debut of one of the most complex and ambitious features ever implemented in a racing simulator.

The driver swap functionality allows players to hand over control of the car to a teammate during live online races, with transitions occurring during pit stops, exactly as it happens in real WEC endurance competitions.

A Monumental Update

The major update released on June 10, 2025, introduced not only driver swaps but also a complete package of innovative features:

Team Management System: A team management system powered by RaceControl that allows players to create team identities and invite their friends, with different assignable roles such as drivers, engineers, and managers.

Custom Liveries: Players can now design their own custom liveries and share them with all drivers and spectators during online events. This feature is exclusive to RaceControl Pro and Pro+ subscribers.

2024 Content Completed: The update includes the Lusail International Circuit and two new GT3 cars: the Lamborghini Huracán LMGT3 Evo2 and the Lexus RC F LMGT3, completing the 2024 season roster.

A Necessary Caution

For now, driver swaps are only available in curated special events, while Studio 397 wants to ensure they work as intended. The decision to initially limit the functionality is strategic: "While we have intensively tested this internally, with the help of some community members, the large scale performance testing of servers and driver swap information many hours into a race is not an easy task for a team of our size".

The Future of Endurance Sim Racing

Stephen Hood, CEO of Motorsport Games, stated: "This is a pivotal moment for Le Mans Ultimate and for everyone in our community. The features arriving in this update represent the core of endurance racing".

With this update, Le Mans Ultimate now boasts a total of 11 circuits with 21 layouts and 25 cars divided into 11 Hypercars, 1 LMP2, 4 GTEs, and 9 LMGT3s, consolidating its position as the most comprehensive endurance simulator on the market.

The August events will represent the first real public test of this revolutionary technology, paving the way for future team-based online championships and bringing endurance sim racing to a level of authenticity never seen before.
