iRacing — Full breakdown of 2026 Season 2 Patch 3 [2026.04.21.01]
iRacing has released the third patch of the 2026 Season 2, bringing a range of targeted fixes, user interface improvements, Balance of Performance updates across numerous categories, and technical work on specific cars and circuits. A comprehensive update that touches virtually every aspect of the simulator.
Simulator: AI improves with the Nissan GTP ZXT
On the artificial intelligence front, computer-controlled drivers have received a specific update for the Nissan GTP ZXT. Their racing behaviour is now more competent and realistic, making sessions against virtual opponents more credible and challenging in this historic vehicle.
User interface: important fixes and new features
The Throttle/Brake Widget gains a new ABS line highlight, giving drivers an additional visual reference to monitor anti-lock braking system activation under braking. A small addition, but potentially useful for anyone working on telemetry analysis and refining their braking technique.
On the fixes side, a performance issue affecting the Results tab has been resolved. Some VR users were experiencing incorrectly positioned UI elements when loading into a session — this has now been corrected for several headsets and position configurations. Mirrors, which were sometimes displaying as completely black, have been fixed: they may still flicker briefly at initialisation, but they become fully reflective before the driver even has a chance to put their foot on the gas. A crash that could occur when loading a HUD profile has also been resolved, and the Rules tab, which sometimes failed to display correctly, now works reliably.
2026 Season 2 Balance of Performance: a broad GT class revision
The centrepiece of this patch is undoubtedly the extensive Balance of Performance update for the 2026 Season 2, covering the GT3, GTE, and GTP categories comprehensively, with updated iRacing setups for all classes and specific adjustments to individual cars.
In the GT3 class, BoP changes are extensive and varied. The Acura NSX GT3 EVO 22 sees reduced mass, slightly reduced engine torque, and fine-tuned fuel economy. The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO receives slightly increased mass, reduced engine torque, and optimised fuel economy. The Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3 gets slight increases to both mass and engine torque, with fuel economy fine-tuning. The BMW M4 GT3 benefits from slightly reduced mass and torque, along with fuel economy adjustments. The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R sees increased mass and torque alongside fuel economy optimisation. The Ferrari 296 GT3 receives the most aggressive treatment: increased downforce, slightly reduced mass, slightly increased engine torque, and fine-tuned fuel economy — overall a set of changes designed to make it more competitive. The Ford Mustang GT3 gets increased mass and reduced engine torque with fuel economy adjustments. The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO sees slightly increased mass and torque with fine-tuned fuel economy. The McLaren 720S GT3 EVO receives slightly reduced mass and slightly increased torque. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020 gets reductions to both mass and torque with fuel economy fine-tuning. The Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) rounds out the class with a complex set of changes: increased aerodynamic drag, reduced mass, increased engine torque, and fine-tuned fuel economy — a carefully balanced intervention designed to maintain its competitiveness within the class.
For the GTE class, the BMW M8 GTE receives increased downforce and fine-tuned fuel economy, alongside the fix for a bug that prevented the paddle shifters from rotating with the steering wheel. The Chevrolet Corvette C8.R GTE gets slightly reduced downforce. The Ferrari 488 GTE sees slightly increased downforce and slightly reduced mass. The Porsche 911 RSR receives reduced downforce, slightly increased mass, and fine-tuned fuel economy.
In the GTP class, the BMW M Hybrid V8 gets slightly increased mass and slightly reduced power unit output. The Cadillac V-Series.R GTP receives fuel economy fine-tuning. The Ferrari 499P sees increased mass, slightly reduced power unit output, and optimised fuel economy. The Porsche 963 GTP gets slightly increased mass and slightly reduced power unit output.
Specific car fixes and updates
Beyond the BoP changes, this patch brings technical corrections and improvements to several individual cars.
The Nissan GTP ZXT receives a significant intervention: brake cooling has been increased to improve pad consistency and braking stability. Front tyre grip has been slightly reduced, rear tyre grip slightly increased, and the overall tyre wear rate has been reduced. The aerodynamic sensitivity of the rear wing and dive planes has also been adjusted — a combined set of changes designed to make this historic car more balanced and predictable.
The BMW M4 G82 GT4, McLaren 570S GT4, and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR all share the same fix: stability control was inactive in left-hand corners, a problem that could significantly affect car behaviour under certain conditions. Now resolved.
The Dallara iR-01 and Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO both correct an issue where the Lexan window insert was not translucent, compromising internal visibility. The Dallara IR18 simply receives an update to the official iRacing setups. The Cadillac V-Series.R GTP resolves an issue where the steering wheel could sometimes appear in the wrong orientation when "static steering wheel" was selected in the graphics options.
For the HPD ARX-01c, a problem where opponent car dashboards could display entirely unreasonable values for multiple indicators has been corrected. A less severe but similar issue is resolved for the Aston Martin DBR9 GT1, Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1, and Ford GT GT2, whose opponent displays now show more reasonable values.
The Dirt Micro Sprint Car sees a change to gear selection behaviour: gears can now only be selected sequentially, and the reverse lockout functions correctly.
On the cosmetic side, both the NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the NASCAR Xfinity Chevrolet Camaro update their rear window banners. The NASCAR Truck Ram adds the Kaulig Racing 25 as a fixed paint scheme.
Circuits: fixes at Bristol and Long Beach
At Bristol Motor Speedway in the Single Pit Road configuration, a pit road issue that could reset a driver's pit settings upon entry has been corrected. At Long Beach Street Circuit, brake markers have been properly attached to the catch fence, eliminating a visual inaccuracy that could prove misleading.
Conclusion
iRacing's 2026 Season 2 Patch 3 is a focused and well-structured update that introduces no sweeping changes but works with precision across multiple aspects of the simulator. The extensive Balance of Performance revision rebalances the GT classes with thoughtful, differentiated adjustments, while the technical fixes to individual cars and the UI improve the overall quality of the experience. High-quality maintenance work, exactly what one expects from a mature platform like iRacing.
